Lutron Maestro compatibility Overview

Dimmers and Switches

No matter the type of bulbs you have in your home chances are Lutron Maestro will have a switch or dimmer that is compatible. The Digital Fade Dimmer is capable of immediately setting your light level to a preset favorite, fade-to-off or you can adjust the level manually to suit the environment. For dimmable CFL and LED bulbs, Lutron offers their C•L™ Dimmer; these models use Lutron’s exclusive HED™ Technology that was specifically designed to be compatible with the most efficient bulbs on the market today.

One of the biggest challenges of LED-based solid-state lighting is determining compatibility. This is why it is important to source from a lighting control manufacturer like Lutron that has already done all the necessary testing and research. Finding the right bulb/dimmer combination is easy with Lutron’s LED Compatibility Tool. Whether you need a dimmer to work with your bulbs or a bulb to work with your dimmer the tool makes the process smooth and easy.

Another draw of Lutron Maestro is their eco-dim® model for incandescent and halogen lights. If outfitting your home with LED fixtures is not something you are interested in, the eco-dim® can guarantee at least 15% energy savings as compared to a standard switch.

Keypads/Pico Remotes

If you are looking to put a full range lighting control system into your home, the next component you will want to add is Pico Wireless Control. The Pico remotes are capable of adjusting lights, shades, or audio and requires no wiring. Pairing a remote to a Maestro wireless dimmer or switch is very easy and on the off chance there is confusion, Lutron has plenty of instructional videos available that show each step.

Occupancy Sensors

Maestro occupancy/vacancy sensors have the capability to automatically turn lights on when movement is detected and off once the room is empty. They are perfect for commercial or residential applications and are able to provide coverage for the full range of motion, from very fine motor activities like typing, to major motion like walking around. The difference between the two is an occupancy sensor will automatically turn the lights off when you enter a room as well as when you leave; a vacancy sensor will only turn off automatically. The lights would still have to be turned on manually.

These sensors can be very useful in places where lights are constantly being left on, even when no one is using the room.

As is the case with LED compatibility, Lutron has a Sensor Selection Tool designed help you filter all of the sensor options by application, sensing technology, and system functionality. The tool will also list distributors near you where the sensors can be found.
