It’s safe to say our friends over at RAB Lighting were busy this year — with a total of 50 LED products released by the manufacturer in 2022 alone. Among those 50; 33 were completely brand new designs, 10 were add-ons to existing product families, and 7 were replacements to an outdated version. At PROLIGHTING, you’ll find RAB’s 2022 products peppered throughout the brand’s three main categories: outdoor lighting, indoor lighting, and LED lamps. Keep reading to see which products we chose as our favorites for 2022.

Meet CD34

Contemporary design at an economical price — meet the RAB CD34 LED cylinder. If you’re familiar with RAB’s products you’ll know that a 34 or 17 in the RAB part number means that it’s in their economy or ultra-economy families. Debuting in fall 2022, these stylish cylinders are a more affordable, field-adjustable version of RAB’s architectural CDLED™ LED cylinder. The RAB CD34 is not only economical, but it’s ultra-versatile in that it can be surface, wall, or pendant* mounted. The CD34 is an excellent choice to provide your general ceiling lighting application with long-lasting, energy efficient LED illumination. All CD34s are UL listed for wet locations, making them a great option for both indoor and outdoor applications — from conference rooms and auditoriums to kitchens and entryways.

*Pendant accessory must be purchased for pendant mounts (CD34STEM-K, CD34STEM-W, CD34STEM-Z).

At RAB Lighting, field-adjustability is central to their designs, and these CD34s are no exception. Select between five different CCT values to choose the color temperature that best suits your needs. A high 90+ CRI means you’ll enjoy true color rendering in the area of illumination. RAB’s 5-year limited warranty covers light output, driver performance, paint finish and labor. RAB CD34 also has a hefty 100,000-hour LED lifespan. At 10 hours daily use, RAB LEDs are rated to last 27 years, dramatically reducing maintenance and re-lamping costs. The CD34 Series cylinder comes standard as a surface mount, but can be easily converted into a stem-mounted pendant with these accessory kits, which include four connectable 12″ stems and a base.

Meet ALED

Thinner, lighter and now field-adjustable… it’s the iconic RAB ALED area light, reimagined. The updated ALED area light Series arrived at the end of summer 2022 in four sizes, each with three field-selectable wattages to let you replace up to 1500W metal halide. The ever-popular RAB ALED took on a dramatic redesign — engineered to be significantly thinner, lighter, and more sustainable. The new model uses far less material and is lighter weight, clocking in at 60% the weight of its predecessor and one-third the size.

In addition to being offered in distribution Types II,III, IV and V, the ALED area light is also available with optics for car dealerships, with a wide distribution and an intentional hot spot that helps deliver eye-catching light to the front row of cars in a dealership lot while also minimizing “backspill” toward the street.

The ALED area light is available in three different color finishes and three different mounts (pole, slipfitter, or wall mount) to help you achieve a continuous look throughout an entire site. Save more with sensors — the ALED is offered with optional motion sensors or a 7-pin receptacle that’s perfect for use with RAB’s standard twistlock photocell or smart Lightcloud Twist*. The ALED arrives with RAB’s 10-year full no-compromise warranty and DLC Premium approval for big rebates.

*Requires Lightcloud Gateway or Hub. **Only available in Large and XL housings.

Meet H17

Smaller, lighter, and more powerful — meet the ultra-economy RAB H17 high bay. Here in the Midwest, there are countless opportunities for LED UFO high bay lighting – warehousing, manufacturing facilities, gymnasiums and equine buildings – and the H17 is a great solution. New and improved for 2022, RAB’s H17 and H17 XL UFO-style LED high bay models still offer three selectable lumen outputs, but they’ve raised the bar from two to three selectable CCTs — making it even more versatile and ready to handle countless applications. Designing more and more products that feature field-adjustability is important to RAB because it provides customers with options, without distributors (like us!) having to carry dozens of separate SKUs.

YRReview5

The newest H17 high bay is smaller and 35% lighter than its already-compact original. The small model is less than a foot in diameter, and both deliver incredibly high output (replacing up to 8 T5HO or 750W metal halide), and boast even higher efficacy than before. The H17 includes an expansion port that makes it easy to screw on standard or Lightcloud Blue-enabled PIR and microwave sensors, which can be configured to adjust brightness and hold time, saving additional energy and costs. A remote is also available for an additional level of control. Each RAB X17 high bay comes standard with a hanging hook and a 4-foot cord, but kits are also available for both surface and pendant mounting. In addition to the various reflectors, refractors, lenses, and protective wire guards available, there’s now also a 90-minute battery backup that’s compatible with 120-277V models. With the optional add-ons of Lightcloud Blue and timers, the H17 lets you can create dramatic large-scale lighting at an affordable cost.

PIR Sensor Kit: PIR40, Microwave Sensor Kit: MVS50, Remote (for standard PIR and MVS Sensors only): MSR1, Lightcloud Blue-enabled PIR Sensor Kit: PIR40/LCB, Lightcloud Blue-enabled MVS Sensor Kit: MVS50/LCB

Mounting accessories: Yoke for Surface Mount: H17-SM, Pendant Mount Kit with Adapter: H17-PM-KIT
