Overview
This parking lot is for a hospital located within 1 mile of the PROLIGHTING in Brighton, MI. When you’re taking on a project like this, you have to think about where and how the elderly and disabled will benefit most. The first most noticeable improvement is the color. The new 50 watt 5000 Kelvin RAB LED lighting creates a much more white light making it easier to see objects and traffic more. In addition, the color rendering index or CRI is much improved as well. The CRI is responsible for how clearly you see objects. These lights were mounted on a 10 foot pole. At this height we focused on making the light abundant but not blinding or overbearing.
Like other LED retrofit and replacement projects, the energy and cost savings were great. Each pole originally had 2 old 250 Watt High pressure sodium lights in them. The poles are still dual lamp but are now powered by a 50 watt LED that produces more light at a more effective cost. Not to mention, these pole mount area lights are rated at 100,000 hours. Truly a win-win situation for everyone involved. The customers and the hospital staffing overseeing the retrofit.
The square steel pole was also a RAB product. This pole was made from 11 gauge steel. It features a reinforced hand hole with grounding lug and cover for quick access to install the lamps. The steel is powder coated to protect it from the elements and wrapped before shippping to prevent damage.
