Rolling back a Trump-era policy this week, the U.S. Department of Energy announced the finalization of a new efficiency rule that will finally phase out older, high-energy incandescent bulbs. The Department of Energy estimates the rule will save U.S. consumers close to $3 billion on their utility bills, and project it will also cut planet-warming carbon emissions by 222 metric tons over the next 30 years.
