Their two flagship lines, RA2 Select and RadioRA 2, may sound similar, but they are in fact completely separate systems and cannot be combined. It’s important to understand the difference between these systems so that you choose products that are compatible and will function properly together. Deciding which Lutron system is right for you will depend on a few factors. Both the RadioRA2 and RA2 Select systems are built from the same technology, Lutron’s patented Clear Connect RF Technology, but it’s important to note that the two systems cannot be used in conjunction with one another. However, they do employ the same Pico Remote system. The versatile Pico Remote offers a large variety of options for control throughout your space. The Pico is available as a keypad, for scene control, or as a remote for controlling individual lights and shades. Both the RadioRA2 and RA2 Select also offer app control.
With the RA2 Select, anyone can enjoy personalized smart lighting on any budget. The RA2 Select uses a main repeater that can support up to 100 devices, with coverage for up to 5,000 square feet of space. The RA2 Select Main Repeater allows for setup, control, integration and monitoring of Maestro dimmers and switches, Pico scene keypads, and wireless shades from a smartphone or tablet using the Lutron app. Add personalized scenes, schedule lights and shades to adjust automatically, and use the Home Away and geofencing features for even more customization. RA2 Select also works with smart home solutions from other top brands like Amazon Alexa, Apple®️ HomeKit, and Google Assistant, for voice, audio, temperature control and more.
RadioRA 2 is Lutron’s expanded wireless total home control system. RadioRA 2 offers RF coverage for up to 7,500 square feet of space, with a 200 device system limit; perfect for large scale homes that need a full system installed. One main repeater is necessary for every 100 devices; each main repeater essentially acts as one RF link. Seamlessly integrate with the full line of Lutron shades and drapes, as well as occupancy/vacancy sensors and Lutron thermostats. RadioRA 2 works with all designer RF wall dimmers, including Lutron’s most modern and architectural GRAFIK T line of products.
Lutron offers two ways to connect your RadioRA 2 system with an app. With the Connect Bridge and free app, you can enjoy additional third-party integration with products such as Wi-Fi thermostats. You’ll also have free remote access to your system. The second way to connect is through the Lutron Home Control+ app. This free app allows you to control your system while on the same Wi-Fi network as the repeater(s). Remote access is also available through the Lutron Home Control+ app for an additional cost.
